{"id":15654,"date":"2012-02-13T09:31:50","date_gmt":"2012-02-13T14:31:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/?p=15654"},"modified":"2012-02-13T09:31:50","modified_gmt":"2012-02-13T14:31:50","slug":"boys-in-skirts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/boys-in-skirts\/","title":{"rendered":"Boys in skirts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-2100314\/Scottish-childrens-tsar-adds-support-schoolboys-battle-wear-skirt-school.html?ITO=1490\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Boys should be able to wear skirts to school because\u00a0 uniforms &#8216;should not discriminate&#8217;, a children&#8217;s adviser has claimed.<\/p>\n<p>Tam Baillie, the Scottish parliament\u2019s Commissioner for Children and Young People, has backed 13-year-old Luca Scarabello, who is fighting for a ban on \u2018gender-specific uniforms\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Baillie said that Luca, a pupil at St Mungo\u2019s High School in Falkirk, Stirlingshire, who lodged a petition with the Scottish Government in November, had \u2018raised important rights issues\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The public petitions committee (PPC) is considering Luca&#8217;s proposals.<\/p>\n<p>In his response to the PPC,\u00a0 Mr Baillie claimed that forcing uniforms on children could cause \u2018serious distress\u2019 for those with gender variants.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The \u201cserious distress\u201d caused by not allowing boys to wear skirts won\u2019t look so nearly so serious when compared to the distress that will come later from encouraging a mixed-up child to pretend he is a girl.<\/p>\n<p>How many children are we prepared to sacrifice on the altar of gender equality political correctness?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From here: Boys should be able to wear skirts to school because\u00a0 uniforms &#8216;should not discriminate&#8217;, a children&#8217;s adviser has claimed.
