{"id":14258,"date":"2011-09-20T12:35:06","date_gmt":"2011-09-20T16:35:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/?p=14258"},"modified":"2011-09-20T12:35:06","modified_gmt":"2011-09-20T16:35:06","slug":"fresh-expressions-in-the-anglican-church-of-canada","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/fresh-expressions-in-the-anglican-church-of-canada\/","title":{"rendered":"Fresh Expressions in the Anglican Church of Canada"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From <a href=\"http:\/\/www.anglicanjournal.com\/nc\/news-update-items\/article\/fresh-expressions-of-church-no-longer-marginal-10049.html\">here<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, has expressed hope that the Fresh Expressions initiative will flourish in the Anglican Church of Canada as it has in the Church of England.<\/p>\n<p>[&#8230;.]<\/p>\n<p>Fresh Expressions \u201cencourages new forms of church for a fast changing world, working with Christians from a variety of denominations and traditions,\u201d according to the Fresh Expressions U.K. <a title=\"Opens external link in new window\" href=\"http:\/\/www.freshexpressions.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">website<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The question is, fresh expressions of <em>what?<\/em> The fact that heretical dioceses like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.niagara.anglican.ca\/Fresh_Expressions\/index.cfm\">Niagara<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vancouver.anglican.ca\/AboutOurDiocese\/SupportingParishes\/Roadto2018\/tabid\/38\/page\/4\/Default.aspx\">New Westminster<\/a> have launched into Fresh Expressions is hardly reassuring. \u00a0Both dioceses are willing to try anything to boost their flagging numbers but a fresh expression of diocesan baloney isn\u2019t likely to help.<\/p>\n<p>While on the subject of baloney, here is Rowan Williams explaining what Fresh Expressions is all about.
