{"id":12770,"date":"2011-04-21T09:12:08","date_gmt":"2011-04-21T13:12:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/?p=12770"},"modified":"2011-04-21T09:12:08","modified_gmt":"2011-04-21T13:12:08","slug":"baby-joseph-maraachli-goes-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/baby-joseph-maraachli-goes-home\/","title":{"rendered":"Baby Joseph Maraachli  goes home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ksdk.com\/news\/article\/255588\/3\/Baby-Joseph-released-from-Cardinal-Glennon\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>: <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-12771\" title=\"goinghome\" src=\"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/goinghome.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"312\" height=\"208\" \/><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Baby Joseph\u00a0Maraachli\u00a0was released from SSM\u00a0Cardinal Glennon Children&#8217;s\u00a0Medical\u00a0Center\u00a0and flew back to Canada with his family on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n<p>The infant has a progressive neurological disease and received a tracheotomy on March 21 at the St. Louis hospital.<\/p>\n<p>The tracheotomy, which creates an opening into Joseph&#8217;s windpipe through an incision in his neck, was a success, said Dr. Robert Wilmott, Chief of Pediatrics for SSM Cardinal Glennon and Saint Louis University School of Medicine.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Joseph has been breathing on his own, without the aid of a mechanical ventilator, for more than a week,&#8221; Wilmott said. &#8220;By providing him with this common palliative procedure, we&#8217;ve given Joseph the chance to go home and be with his family after spending so much of his young life in the hospital.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lhsc.on.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">London Health Sciences Centre<\/a> had planned, against the parents wishes, to remove baby Joseph\u2019s breathing tube on February 22<sup>nd<\/sup>; this would have caused him to choke to death.<\/p>\n<p>The baby will probably still die of his disease, but he will die at home with parents who love him.<\/p>\n<p>He has been given the gift of life \u2013 a short life perhaps, but life, nevertheless: just like the rest of us.<\/p>\n<p><script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/video.foxnews.com\/v\/embed.js?id=4656480&#038;w=466&#038;h=263\"><\/script><noscript>Watch the latest video at <a href=\"http:\/\/video.foxnews.com\">video.foxnews.com<\/a><\/noscript><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From here: Baby Joseph\u00a0Maraachli\u00a0was released from SSM\u00a0Cardinal Glennon Children&#8217;s\u00a0Medical\u00a0Center\u00a0and flew back to Canada with his family on Thursday morning.
