{"id":12573,"date":"2011-04-12T14:05:44","date_gmt":"2011-04-12T18:05:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/?p=12573"},"modified":"2011-04-12T14:05:44","modified_gmt":"2011-04-12T18:05:44","slug":"seattle-school-insists-on-calling-easter-eggs-spring-spheres","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/seattle-school-insists-on-calling-easter-eggs-spring-spheres\/","title":{"rendered":"Seattle school insists on calling Easter Eggs \u201cSpring Spheres\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mynorthwest.com\/?nid=11&amp;sid=459668\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAt the end of the week I had an idea to fill little plastic eggs with treats and jelly beans and other candy, but I was kind of unsure how the teacher would feel about that,\u201d Jessica said.<\/p>\n<p>She was concerned how the teacher might react to the eggs after of a meeting earlier in the week where she learned about \u201ctheir abstract behavior rules.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI went to the teacher to get her approval and she wanted to ask the administration to see if it was okay,\u201d Jessica explained. \u201cShe said that I could do it as long as I called this treat \u2018spring spheres.\u2019 I couldn\u2019t call them Easter eggs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rather than question the decision, Jessica opted to \u201croll with it.\u201d But the third graders had other ideas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I took them out of the bag, the teacher said, \u2018Oh look, spring spheres\u2019 and all the kids were like \u2018Wow, Easter eggs.\u2019 So they knew,\u201d Jessica said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Just imagine if someone had had the temerity to suggest that Easter eggs are a symbol of Jesus\u2019 resurrection.
