The book in question  is the Koran &#8211; surprise, surprise &#8211; a copy of which was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/news\/religion\/2011-03-21-quran-burning-florida_N.htm\" target=\"_blank\">burnt on March  20th<\/a> in Florida. Anglican leaders have denounced the conflagration as  the &#8220;act of a sick mind&#8221;.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Meanwhile,  rampaging Muslims are burning Christian churches all over the place  with nary a peep of protest from the same Anglican leaders: they appear to  have squandered their monthly quota of indignation on the witless twerp who  burnt the Koran.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>From <a href=\"http:\/\/www.anglicancommunion.org\/acns\/news.cfm\/2011\/3\/27\/ACNS4828\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<blockquote><p>Anglican  leaders have condemned the act of burning of the Qur\u2019an on March 20 in  Florida, United States. Bishop Alexander Malik of the Diocese of Lahore,  Pakistan, said that \u201cSuch acts were in flagrant contradiction to the  teaching of Christianity\u2026 They were the manifestations of sick minds  busy in spreading hatred, bigotry and unease in society.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In  Peshawar, Pakistan, Bishop Humphrey Peters noted that this was a  \u201cshameful act\u201d performed \u201conly to gain cheap popularity\u201d. \u202fBishop Peters  was speaking at a press conference alongside members of a Peshawar  based inter faith group \u2018Faith Friends\u2019 at which colleagues from the  Muslim, Sikh and Hindu communities also expressed their anger at the  action.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;A prayer for a time of book-burning&#8221;: only Anglicans could come up with a phrase like that.
