{"id":1156,"date":"2008-12-05T23:23:04","date_gmt":"2008-12-06T03:23:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/anglicansamizdat.wordpress.com\/?p=1156"},"modified":"2008-12-05T23:23:04","modified_gmt":"2008-12-06T03:23:04","slug":"dawkins-and-the-daleks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/dawkins-and-the-daleks\/","title":{"rendered":"Dawkins and the Daleks."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When I was growing up I used to enjoy watching Dr. Who: it was a good example of how imagination could make a low budget production come alive \u2013 at least it seemed that way to a 10 year old.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.starstore.com\/acatalog\/movie-daleks-1o.jpg\" alt=\"Add an Image\" width=\"240\" height=\"172\" \/><br \/>\nThe CBC isn&#8217;t good for much, but it does have ad-free classical music on the radio and Dalek nostalgia on Friday nights. The nostalgia and the fact that the new Dr. Who is produced in Cardiff \u2013 the place of my misspent youth &#8211;\u00a0 are the 2 reasons  I watch it.<\/p>\n<p>Imagine my surprise this evening when I saw Richard Dawkins explain to a disbelieving audience that we have not acquired new planets in our solar system, but that the entire earth has moved. He was about as convincing on Dr. Who as he is in The God Delusion.<\/p>\n<p>I can\u2019t help wondering why he agreed to appear in such a pseudo-scientific fantasy: perhaps to convince us that even atheists can be fun.
