{"id":11423,"date":"2011-01-14T09:35:11","date_gmt":"2011-01-14T14:35:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/?p=11423"},"modified":"2011-01-14T09:35:11","modified_gmt":"2011-01-14T14:35:11","slug":"canadian-air-transport-security-authority-diligently-tracking-down-terrorists","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/canadian-air-transport-security-authority-diligently-tracking-down-terrorists\/","title":{"rendered":"Canadian Air Transport Security Authority diligently tracking down terrorists"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From <a href=\"http:\/\/www.calgarysun.com\/news\/alberta\/2011\/01\/14\/16883431.html\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>:<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.calgarysun.com\/news\/alberta\/2011\/01\/14\/elizabethWEBuse.jpg\" alt=\"Add an Image\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\" \/><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>After spending the Christmas holiday with family in Calgary, Elizabeth Strecker, 82, was flying back to her home in Abbotsford on Jan. 4 when she was selected for further screening by security officials and told to go through the full body scanner.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne guy asked me if I had any liquids or gel on me and I said no,\u201d said Strecker.<\/p>\n<p>And that\u2019s where the trouble started for the widow who immigrated to Canada from Germany nearly 60 years ago and lived in Calgary for 14 years before retiring to the B.C. city.<\/p>\n<p>A cancer survivor, Strecker had a mastectomy five years ago and now wears a prosthetic breast \u2014 which is made of gel.<\/p>\n<p>When she pointed that out to security officers, Strecker said she was accused of lying when first asked about liquids and gels.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was terribly, terribly embarrassing,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was really very humiliating.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m an 82-year-old woman, not a terrorist.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And that\u2019s the problem: the 82 year old Elizabeth Strecker doesn\u2019t <em>look <\/em>like a terrorist, so her prosthetic breast was an obvious target for probing.
