{"id":11405,"date":"2011-01-13T17:49:17","date_gmt":"2011-01-13T22:49:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/?p=11405"},"modified":"2011-01-13T17:49:17","modified_gmt":"2011-01-13T22:49:17","slug":"obama-tucson-and-sarah-palin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/obama-tucson-and-sarah-palin\/","title":{"rendered":"Obama, Tucson and Sarah Palin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I thought Obama did a moderately creditable job in his <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?feature=player_embedded&amp;v=OEiitkI2WH0\" target=\"_blank\">Tucson memorial speech<\/a>: he was suitably sentimental, moderately maudlin, appropriately apolitical and only partially pompous.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, with the cheering, clapping and <a href=\"http:\/\/michellemalkin.com\/2011\/01\/12\/branding-the-tuscon-massacre-together-we-thrive-in-white-and-blue\/\" target=\"_blank\">sporadic booing<\/a>, the whole thing had more the aura of circus than pensive pondering on mankind\u2019s mortality.<\/p>\n<p>It really was a political rally in disguise; it even had a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pinknews.co.uk\/2011\/01\/13\/obama-calls-gay-giffords-intern-a-hero\/\" target=\"_blank\">gay hero<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Obama\u2019s plea for a kinder, gentler political discourse \u2013 or as he would put it, <em>a toned down rhetoric<\/em> (how I hate that overused clich\u00e9) \u2013 is, of course, in vain. The left is so hormonally belligerent, it wouldn\u2019t recognise gentility no matter what\u00a0 teleprompter inspired dulcet tones Obama invoked to penetrate its malice in the hope of infusing sense into the dark colonic cavity that houses the left&#8217;s brain.<\/p>\n<p>There is evidence of this on the following video \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=QxgJKNpjSNI&amp;feature=player_embedded\" target=\"_blank\">removed from youtube<\/a>, but thoughtfully preserved by me for your edification \u2013 on how Sarah Palin is a latter-day impersonator of the Edenic serpent.<\/p>\n<p>[flv:https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/videos\/TwitterPalin.flv 700 480]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I thought Obama did a moderately creditable job in his Tucson memorial speech: he was suitably sentimental, moderately maudlin, appropriately apolitical and only partially pompous.
