{"id":10196,"date":"2010-10-14T10:13:28","date_gmt":"2010-10-14T14:13:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/?p=10196"},"modified":"2010-10-14T10:13:28","modified_gmt":"2010-10-14T14:13:28","slug":"burka-rage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/burka-rage\/","title":{"rendered":"Burka Rage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-1320392\/Retired-teacher-Marlene-faces-jail-ripping-Muslims-veil-case-burka-rage.html?ITO=1490\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A retired teacher is facing three years in prison for ripping off a Muslim\u2019s face veil in the world\u2019s first known case of \u2018burka rage\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The 63-year-old woman, so far only referred to by her first name Marlene, appeared before the Paris Correctional Court to defend her attack on Shaika, 26, who originally comes from the United Arab Emirates\u2026.<\/p>\n<p>Marlene, who is accused of aggravated violence, is said to have \u2018lost control\u2019 when she saw Shaika choosing furniture in a department store.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I knew I would crack one day,\u2019 said Marlene. \u2018This whole saga of the burka was really getting to me.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Speaking in English to her victim, Marlene, who has taught in Morocco and Saudi Arabia, said: \u2018I told her to take off the veil she had on her face. I grabbed and pulled it.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018To me wearing a full veil is an attack on being a woman. As a woman, I felt attacked.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>A few minutes later Marlene is said to have started hitting Shaika, who refused to take her veil off.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I went over to her and tore her veil,\u2019 said Marlene in a police report. \u2018We came to blows. I was very upset.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>After allegedly slapping Shaika, Marlene bit her hand before successfully removing the veil, shouting: \u2018Now I can see your face.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Security guards had to separate the women, with one describing the fight as being motivated by \u2018pure burka rage\u2019.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Wearing a burka in public in France is now illegal \u2013 it wasn\u2019t when Marlene went burka bonkers &#8211; but a pre-emptive citizen\u2019s arrest defence isn\u2019t likely to fly.
