{"id":10159,"date":"2010-10-11T15:42:37","date_gmt":"2010-10-11T19:42:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/?p=10159"},"modified":"2010-10-11T15:42:37","modified_gmt":"2010-10-11T19:42:37","slug":"wheres-muhammad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/wheres-muhammad\/","title":{"rendered":"Where\u2019s Muhammad?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The editors of the Washington Post exercised their right of craven poltroonery last weekend by not publishing a very mildly satirical cartoon about Muhammad.<br \/>\nFrom the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.powerlineblog.com\/archives\/2010\/10\/027438.php\" target=\"_blank\">Annals of Dhimmitude<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>What is clever about last Sunday&#8217;s &#8220;Where&#8217;s Muhammad?&#8221; comic is that the prophet [sic] does not appear in it.<\/p>\n<p>Still, Style editor Ned Martel said he decided to yank it, after conferring with others, including Executive Editor Marcus W. Brauchli, because &#8220;it seemed a deliberate provocation without a clear message.&#8221; He added that &#8220;the point of the joke was not immediately clear&#8221; and that readers might think that Muhammad was somewhere in the drawing.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Would they have published a cartoon that <em>did <\/em>have a clear \u2013 but offensive \u2013 message?
