Alberta government issues thinly veiled threat to Christian schools

Alberta’s NDP government has an anti-bullying policy in schools. To the NDP mind, a school that refuses to have gay straight alliance clubs or cross-gender lavatories is guilty of bullyingas defined by the Humpty Dumpty Theory of Language.

To discourage such defiant flouting of gender politics pieties, the Alberta government is bullying schools into compliance.

From here:

Education Minister David Eggen says he’s willing to strip two Christian schools of their public funding if they won’t abandon their Christian principles and allow clubs promoting homosexuality and/or transgender students in washrooms of the opposite sex.

These measures are part of the New Democratic government’s anti-bullying policies that single out sexual minorities for protection, though surveys indicate that physical appearance and grades are far more likely causes of school bullying.

Last month, Spruce Grove Baptist pastor Brian Coldwell, who is also chairman of an independent Christian school board with two small schools with 200 students, said neither cross-gendered washrooms nor gay straight alliances would be allowed in his schools.

Asked about Coldwell’s comments at a school opening where he was joined by Premier Rachel Notley, Eggen said, “It’s not acceptable, not just for the kids that are attending those schools, but it sends a negative message across the province, that I’m quite concerned about as well.” According to the Edmonton Journal, Eggen also said he “won’t rule out” defunding Coldwell’s schools.

  1. This action clearly proves governments at all levels have no interest whatever in upholding or maintaining any moral standards except what they might believe will ensure their re-election. This disease is not only prevalent with the intended action of the NDP Alberta government but tragically pervades ALL governments and most, if not all parties seeking to form government.

Upholding moral standards in line with Scripture sets a very high and commendable standard and that should be the aim of all governments. The public are not looking for anything less. Parents should definitely have the right to send their children to a school with high moral standards and they deserve the full support of government in doing so. Christian parents deserve the full and unequivocal support of government.

  2. I simply do not understand the psychology behind these government decisions and aims. It is transparently unjust to tax Christians and then to withhold their tax dollars from Christian institutions who function consistent with Christian principles, while lavishing those dollars on secular institutions that promote the whole anti-Christian, secular package.

I simply do not comprehend why politicians are so hell-bent on promoting these sexual alternatives to teenagers and not only in schools, but in every other sphere of life they possibly can. Is it cravenness? Is it crass manipulation for votes? Or is it genuine conviction?

I think this is something we are going to have to get used to, however. The children of the night do not like the children of the day. Like Cain, they will eventually try to smash the stuffing out of us.

    • Two verses come to mind. The strong delusion in 2 Thes 2:10-11, and the magic spell spoken of in Rev 18:23 by which all nations were led astray. What is happening in our culture and in our day is surely supernatural. How else could things have changed so radically and so quickly?

  3. Gender dysphoria is a mental illness. It’s in the same category as anorexia. Both are mental illnesses that can be cured.

Research shows by the time a child has reached late teenage years or early adulthood, they have moved on from this “transgender” thinking.

It’s society that lies to these kids and tells them things that are false. Kids are confused; society is to blame.
