Diocese of Montreal needs $8 million to repair its cathedral

The diocese is launching into a fundraising campaign with all the energy that a church less preoccupied with the temporal might devote to the saving of souls. No matter, this is the interesting part:

The cathedral had no spire from then until 1940, when a new one of aluminum panels mounted on a steel structure replicated the previous stone spire. That structure lasted through 1987-88, when the whole cathedral was, for a time, on a concrete slab supported by piles during construction of a shopping mall underneath the cathedral.

The foundations of the cathedral are resting on an altar dedicated to the  consumer god of a decaying civilisation: a shopping mall.  A perfect metaphor for the Diocese and, indeed, the entire Western Anglican edifice.

  1. Let us wish them good luck in raising the money from this indifferent secular society. It’s not likely, after all the lawsuits &c, that Christians will feel the urge to contribute much.

    • They will raise the money, the building is a heritage building in Montreal and people will contribute not because of the religious element, but because it is a historical building

      • I expect so. Good luck to them. Can you imagine the sheer pointlessness of their life, performing fake worship to a God in whom they don’t believe in a building repaired only by people who don’t believe in anything that goes on inside?

        • You sound so bitter…almost wishing the church would crumble down…your bitterness is a reflection of the darkness in your soul…get therapy, go on a retreat…do some fasting…get an exorcism…drink some holy water

And get over it…the same-sex marriage battle is over and you lost

          • Correction!! Yes, the same-sex marriage battle is over but only on this side of the grave. Regardless of ANY action taken by the apostate leadership the authority of Scripture cannot be overruled. The WORD is final regardless of any fantasies within the thinking of the apostates within the ACoC. The only thing that has been proven is the fact that the ACoC is no longer Christian but rather a church – notice the small “c” – of political expediency.

  2. “I will spew you out of my mouth”. Ring any bells? God made us, loves us, and died for us. He showed us what is good and what us evil. Sorry guys, gals or whatever’s it
Is not us who decide that.
