The Church of England hair-splitting pantomime farce

In a recent interview, Justin Welby, channelling the shade of Rowan Williams, declared that same-sex unions are perfectly fine – commendable even – with him but same sex marriages are not. He offered no explanation – perhaps because there isn’t one:

My own view on same-sex marriage is one thing; my own view on same-sex unions is: I recognize, again I have said in public, the immense quality and profound love and commitment of many same-sex unions. I don’t think that marriage is the appropriate way forward.

He omitted the word “yet” after “forward”; I know he was thinking it, though.

The same-sex part begins around 13:30:

  1. It must be a curse to know what everyone else is thinking. It kinda makes the comments section a waste of time. 😉

  2. As soon as one says tat same sex unions are OK it is only a very small step to go on and say that same sex marriages are also ok. This because if you determine that homosexual behavior us OK, which you must do in order to accept same sex unions, you end up having no reason to object to nor resist same sex marriages.

How sad a thing it is that the highest Bishop, the first among equals, seems to not be listening to God!

  3. This simply shows that the appointment of the ABC should NOT hinge or depend on the approval of the British Government. Said appointment(s) should be by genuine orthodox Bishops who fully accept the authority of Scripture regardless of any decisions that might be made by any government authority. We have seen and continue to witness decisions being made that are totally contrary to Scripture. We all have that old nature within us and our tendencies to sin vary according to our personalities. We cannot blame God or expect or demand HIS approval and the ABC should clearly recognize this.

  4. State appointee advocates views of those who appointed him.

In other news, pope “still catholic” and bears still using outdoor sanitation.

  5. Can anyone tell me why we even use the Scripture passages in the New Testament about SSMs? Wasn’t St. Paul only talking about what went on in the Temple and places like that? If he was, then surely we shouldn’t be following his words in the 21st century.

    • I do not think that you meant to capitalise “temple”.

There is no reference to pagan temple prostitution anywhere in the New Testament.

  6. But his passages against homosexual sex were only relegated to men having sex with boys … right?

And thanks for the temple catch. I guess he wasn’t in “the” temple since he was in Rome …
