The Canadian blooming of Franklin Graham hysteria

The Anglican Journal, bastion of liberal thinkpol, tweets its smug approval of attempts to block Franklin Graham’s visit to Canada:

Naturally, a United Church minister must get in on the act:

“We live in a country that has free speech, but there’s a difference between free speech and hate speech” said Stevenson, who is also an ordained minister of the United Church of Canada.

And there is the problem in a nutshell: if, when liberal orthodoxy is challenged, what is said is automatically classified as hate speech, then in Canada we do not live in a country that has free speech, do we?

  1. The arrogance of the left knows no bounds. When Franklin Graham is an apparent threat to Peter Elliot, Anglican Dean of the Vancouver Cathedral parish, then it is time for him to retire.

  2. Tragically the so-called Christian left – which in reality worships the gods of political correctness (a deceptive term in itself) and/or political expediency) – and have abandoned the WORD. This is precisely why they are endeavoring to block the appearance of Franklin Graham.

  3. Absolutely. What the protestors are really saying is, “You are free to say what you want, so long as we approve it. We don’t want to hear anything that might make us uncomfortable.”
Is this what Jesus meant when he spoke of himself as a ‘stone of stumbling and a rock
    of offence’?
    Pitiful, really.

  4. In the 1970s, many of my Chinese Christian friends remained very loyal to Nixon in spite of the Watergate incident. Should a Christian preacher be too closely associated with a political leader, left or right?

    • The truth is that we are not dealing with the right or left from a political standpoint. The worshipers of the gods – notice the small “g” – of political correctness (a deceptive term in its own right) and/or political expediency have been allowed to establish themselves in what were true Christian churches and now do not like to face the truth of the Gospel. Tragically they have managed to lead many from the TRUTH.
