Anglican Church of Canada and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada to combine synods in 2019

A conjoining of the likeminded, a consolidation of withering, a pooling of unbelief, a unified witness of doubt to an indifferent world, a belated smokescreen to conceal decades of intellectual inbreeding.

Or, perhaps, a desperate attempt to endure for a few more years.

The article below makes it clear that this has nothing to do with survival; nothing at all.

The Anglican Church of Canada and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC) have approved in principle a plan to hold a second joint assembly in 2019.

[…]

Hiltz said the report [a report from the Joint Anglican and Lutheran Commission] emphasized the point that for the majority of those ministries, the choice to work together was made from “a position of strength for common witness,” not from a survivalist point of view.

  1. Tragically we are witnessing two previously orthodox and evangelical churches trying to put on a smokescreen. They have turned their backs on both the authority of Scripture and the uniqueness of Jesus Christ and are, therefore, no longer Christian.

    • There is a considerable number of folk who attend the ACoC whom I have met that don’t really know why they go. It is out of some sense of protracted duty. If you come out of Mass feeling worse than you went in………..why go at all.

  2. To my friend Steve Bailey………….are you referring to the observations contained herein or the obvious attempt at both ‘camps’ to hide the fact that both institutions are irrelevant?
    Curious.

  3. This is further to my previous posting. What is needed today are true orthodox Christians. Tragically what we see within the Christian community are persons who are satisfied to stay in a small “c” church where a small “g” god is supposedly worshipped, whereas we need to worship in a capital “C” Church where the true God is worshipped. Without this any Eucharist or Holy Communion is nothing less than fraud. The ACoC has clearly proved to be apostate with so-called bishops, including the Primate, supporting apostasy. The legally stealing properties which the dioceses have not made any contribution from orthodox Christians is just one of the facts that prove this statement. Another is the suggestion by some of the apostates that all religions lead to God — a statement that is totally contrary to the statement of our Lord and Saviour, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life.”
