Testing the bonds of affection

Anglicans are always prattling on about testing the bonds of affection. At first glance it gives the impression that, having tired of homosexuality, Anglican clergy have moved on to bondage.

Not so, apparently – well, it may be so, but no one is talking yet. Testing the bonds of affection refers to the split in the Anglican Communion; as Fred Hiltz notes:

We were invited to speak to the subject of “testing the bonds of affection” and to offer some reflections on the state of relations within and among the churches of the Anglican Communion.
While we acknowledged concerns about tensions over any number of matters and our grief over impaired relations between some churches, we noted the blessings of indaba—that manner of speaking and listening.

This clarifies things nicely: obviously, participants in Indabas and listening would have to be tied down – presumably with bonds of affection – to prevent them from running out screaming.

Elsewhere, Hiltz reveals that a select group of Manchurian Candidate African Primates have been persuaded (perhaps they were threatened with bonds of affection) to adopt Western eco-worship and sustainability. One can hardly blame them for caving: imagine the torment of sustained Indabas.

They framed their conversation in the context of human dignity, the sustainability of ministry and the care for the earth, and discussed a wide range of subjects that provide opportunities for fruitful collaboration and sharing of one another’s gifts.

  1. I read the “Elsewhere” link. Blatant propaganda.

    “A meeting of five African Primates with bishops of The Episcopal Church took place…” – no mention of who these five African Primates were or which Provinces they were from. I suspect these are ones that are in line with TEc and AcoC (i.e. South Africa).

    “Severe disagreements have tormented the Anglican Communion since 1998…” – No mention that this torment was the result of TEc and AcoC deliberately and knowingly breaking the 1998 Lambeth Resolution 1.10.

    “…a new movement called the Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON) emerged in the Communion, threatening to derail the 14th Lambeth Conference.” – It was in fact TEc and their openly homosexual “bishop” Robinson who left his wife so that he could be with his sodomite sex partner that was the problem.

    “The movement quickly became a place of refuge for schismatic groups in The Episcopal Church and The Anglican Church of Canada.” – The people that are referred to as “schismatic groups” are in fact Anglicans that refused to go along with the sinful trajectory of TEc and AcoC. The ones who are in fact being schismatic are TEc and AcoC by their refusals to abide by 1998 Lambeth Resolution 1.10 and the pleas of the majority within the WAC.

    “Since then, tensions have been gradually receding.” – This is a bold faced lie!

    The rest of the statement goes about yet even more conversations that Hiltz hopes to continue. I for one am done with the AcoC. What they peddle as conversations is nothing more than “you sit there, keep your opinions to yourself because we are not going to respect them anyway, and you listen to everything that we are telling you and ignorantly accept what we say without question”. Such is not a conversation at all. It is a bully still trying to push everyone else around.

      • No depth here — it’s a comment about form, not content.

        AMP systematically uses a lower-case c when he types the acronyms for the Anglican Church of Canada and the Episcopal Church (he types AcoC and TEc).
        Making a point that they are not real churches. I find the device really quite striking — economical and effective, even though I obviously disagree.

        • Tragically the ACoC and TEC are not Christian churches. They have rejected both the authority of Scripture and the uniqueness of Jesus Christ and thus make a mockery of the Eucharist.

  2. The “threatening” “new movement… in the Communion” is the Promised WORD-based Holy Spirit,+ John 14-17, striving to be heard above their one-way dialogue/indaba with GOD;
    for sooner, or later, or much too later!, He will be heard. + John 5:24,25
    “Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that heareth My WORD, and believeth on Him that sent Me, hath everlasting life,
    and shall not come into Judgment, but is passed from death unto life…
    The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear The Voice of The Son of GOD;
    and they that HEAR shall live.”
    Dying or dead Churches are deaf Churches.

  3. Yes, indeed deaf churches are indeed dying and are as good as dead. The ACoC under the leadership of Fred Hiltz and his fellow apostates has abandoned the Gospel and the only concern of these so-called bishops is their pensions. The time has come for them to realize they need to look at their eternal future and we do pray for their conversion and repentance despite the fact that from a human standpoint they will continue in their worship of a false gospel.
