More on the Archbishop of Uganda’s departure from the Primates’ gathering

Archbishop Stanley Ntagali’s statement below makes it reasonably clear whose side – no one should be under the illusion that there are no sides in this disagreement – Justin Welby is on: TEC’s and the ACoC’s. This doesn’t bode well for enforcing the sanctions that were placed against TEC, nor does it create much confidence that in three years’ time, if TEC has not repented, much will be done to further censure them. The success of the liberal technique of wearing everyone down through the passage of time and endless enervating conversation is well established and will be employed during the next three years.

The fact that, by the end of the meeting, there was any criticism of TEC at all was little short of miraculous.

To compensate for this unforeseen lapse, the first thing Welby did after the meetings were over, was apologise for the “hurt and pain” the Anglican church has inflicted on lesbian, gay and transgender people”

From here (my emphasis):

Unfortunately, neither the Archbishop of Canterbury nor any of the other structures of the Anglican Communion were able to discipline the Episcopal Church USA. That meant that the Anglican Communion had become like the time in the Book of Judges when God’s judgment was upon the people of God because it says, “Everyone did what was right in their own eyes.” Even the Anglican Church of Canada has allowed the blessing of same-sex unions in their church.

We had hoped that the meeting this past week would restore godly order to the Anglican Communion and re-establish the Bible as the authority for our faith and morals.

On the second day of the meeting, I moved a resolution to ask the Episcopal Church USA and the Anglican Church of Canada to voluntarily withdraw from all Anglican Communion groups. It grieves me to say that the Archbishop of Canterbury, who was chairing the meeting, did not take my resolution seriously and simply moved on to another matter without ever allowing any discussion on it.

At that point in the meeting, I realized that the process that had been set up would not allow us to accomplish the purpose for which we had come.

  1. The purpose for which the Primates had gathered was to discuss this and other issues facing the Anglican Communion. To have excluded any from the discussion would have defeated that purpose.

  2. Yes, indeed, this conference was doomed from the outset as Justin Welby has proven to be on the side of the apostates well before he called this meeting. He had invited Michael Ingham and another apostate about a year back to discuss problems within the communion and there is no evidence whatever that he had consulted with the orthodox clergy or laity. This is proof that the appointment of the ABC should not be subject to the civil government as they will only approve someone that agrees with their agenda. The so-called Anglican Communion can no longer be called Anglican or Christian as with the clear approval of the ABC it rejects both the authority of Scripture and the uniqueness of Jesus Christ and now worships the god (notice the small “g”) of political correctness. Satan has certainly made full use of his generals within the communion. The Anglican Communion has been descending into the pit of apostasy for years. For the ABC to apologize for the “hurt and pain” supposedly inflicted by the church makes as much sense as apologizing to persons committing any other sin. For the communion to be both Anglican and Christian it must adhere to both the authority of Scripture and the uniqueness of Jesus Christ.. Having a white collar and purple shirt does not excuse any so-called bishop from this requirement. I can only praise the GAFCON primates for standing up for the Gospel. If Justin Welby and other apostates were honourable they would immediately resign their position(s) and remove their white collar and change the collar of their shirt.

It has been widely publicised that Justin Welby visited all of the primates, travelling around the world to do so. In addition he consulted with and invited the ACNA Archbishop. 27 of the primates voted to impose consequences on The Episcopal church, including the GAFCON group. Clearly he consulted the orthodox.

    • It might have been widely publicized that Justin Welby had consulted with orthodox primates and if that is true he should have stood up for the Gospel and that was NOT done. His actions clearly show he has changed his allegiance from the Gospel to that deceptive god (notice the small “g”) political correctness. My comments stand.

  4. Frank, the anglican primates censured the Episcopal church for adopting same sex marriage. I am not sure how that means they worship the small g god of political correctness. There certainly are aspects of the Anglican Communion that can and should be criticised but hyperbole is unhelpful. Getting the facts right is also important, in persuading people to a point of view.

    • The censure of the TEC amounted to nothing more than a reprimand with no order that they make any changes. In reality it means nothing.

  5. How can you call SSM or SSB anything other than adiaphora? It’s not in the Nicene Creed – marriage isn’t even one of the two sacraments of the Church according to the Chicago-Lambeth Quadrilateral! Maybe a bit less reverencing of the gods of bibliolatry and tradition and more focus on Jesus’s Gospel we’d all be better off?

      • This crucial connection between The Gospel of Jesus Christ and Biblically defined sin (whatever that sin may be ) for which only His Gospel can and does atone could not be more timely in its affirmation than at this critical juncture in the life and witness of the global Communion. Otherwise, the Communion is accommodating “another gospel”.
Thank you, Dr Packer, and The LORD continue to bless your faithful witness for Him
